Thermometer Tracks Fundraising
Hendry County residents can now watch as the hospital emergency room construction fundraising campaign heats up and moves closer to its goal of $4 million. The recently installed thermometer at the Hendry Regional Medical Center Foundation house, on U.S. Highway 27 in Clewiston, will track the influx of funds from donations and fundraising events. The thermometer currently shows the campaign's funds at $2,205,000, with increasing increments of $250,000. As the red line moves up the thermometer, residents will see the progress of funds raised for the new emergency room at Hendry Regional Medical Center (HRMC).
Regarding the outpouring of community support, Robbie Castellanos, Chairman of the HRMC Foundation said, “I am incredibly proud of our community's dedication and enthusiasm for the emergency room campaign. It is heartwarming to see how every age group, from our youth to our senior citizens, has found ways to contribute to this worthwhile cause.”
Groundbreaking for the 8,177 square-foot facility is still slated for this year. The new structure will cost approximately $12 million and will be located on the property south of the existing emergency room, connected to the hospital by an enclosed corridor.
