HRMC Corporate Health Receives $7,000 from Lucy’s Angels
On Friday, May 2, 2008, Lucy’s Angels for Breast Cancer, Inc. awarded Hendry Regional Corporate Health with grant funds of $7,000. Hendry Regional Medical Center will use the money to provide free mammograms and diagnostic procedures to qualifying men and women, who reside in Hendry and Glades Counties.
Lucy’s Angels was initially formed in 2006, by the family and friends of Lucy Perez, who, at the age of 39, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Lucy died of the disease in 2005. All funds raised are designated specifically for Hendry and Glades Counties. Ms. Janice Brown, a Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) teacher in Moore Haven, along with her students, also wanted to support the fight against breast cancer. After Ms. Brown and her students raised $2,068 through their annual “Power of Pink” 5K run, they contacted Judy Litt, Founder of Lucy’s Angels and donated this money to Lucy’s Angels for Breast Cancer, Inc .
