Hospital CEO Wins Award for Highest Growth in Patient Admissions
 Craig R. Cudworth, Chief Executive Officer of Hendry Regional Medical Center (HRMC), recently attended the 2008 QHR CEO conference in Brentwood, Tennessee, where he received an award for the highest growth in patient admissions among QHR hospitals. QHR is the management firm of 180 hospitals, and HRMC is one of those.
In 2007, Mr. Cudworth successfully turned around operations at HRMC through strong admissions growth. Patient admissions grew 41% (from 900 to 1,268), resulting in the growth of revenue from $1,876,773 to $3,643,130.
Two strategies have helped Mr. Cudworth to achieve this growth. First, he focused on recruitment of both primary care and specialty physicians. He recruited one Internist, who assisted in recruiting three other Internists from his residency program. Then, Mr. Cudworth added two General Surgeons and a Family Physician to the medical staff of HRMC. His second strategy was developing a hospitalist program to support the primary care physicians. This program resulted in the retention of all newly recruited physicians and support for the General Surgeon until a second surgeon was recruited.
Higher admissions and quality physicians - just two more reasons why Hendry Regional Medical Center is moving “onwards and upwards.” Congratulations to Craig Cudworth, CEO of Hendry Regional Medical Center.
