A famous writer (I think it was Mark Twain) once said, "The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated."
I have always enjoyed good health, except for the last few years. On January 1st, around 2 p.m., while having dinner with my family, I experienced severe pains in my chest and left arm. Being a 33-year law enforcement officer and trained in first aid, I knew time was very short for me to get help.
I was taken to Hendry Regional Medical Center by personal vehicle, and the emergency room was advised that I was on my way. I was admitted to the emergency room and was found to be suffering from a heart attack. The staff was there for me and was very competent in my care. While on the table, I had a second attack and was well into the third, when their efforts paid off. Once stabilized, I was transferred to JKF for continued care. I can say without a doubt that were it not for the staff of the HRMC emergency room, I would not be here today.
I cannot thank the people enough for their care and professionalism in my time of crisis. This was the second time in five years that my life was saved by the medical professionals in Hendry County. Both times, had it not been for them, hospitals on both coasts have told me my life would have been over.
My youngest son was born there, and I was saved from death there. HRMC means a lot to me. I'll pay my hospital taxes and support a new addition to the center, with no reservations. And, I thank God for the wonderful people at Hendry Regional Medical Center.
We all need to come on board and make this the healthcare facility we can all be proud of.
